One of the leading match-3 games I have played regarding ease of gameplay, Cookie Jam for iOS and Google Android lets you play and beat thousands of puzzles by matching candy and cookies to clear the board.
The colorful and explosive cartoon graphics on the app keep the adrenaline rushing when you play the game and are especially appropriate for a younger audience. The design is easy on the eyes though not being too exciting for a match-3 game. You will also get cool sounds to accompany these graphics. At the top of the display, you can check your stats, moves and whatever you have collected so far. The score is 10/10.
What Is It about?
With this game on your Android mobile, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, you will experience simple match-3 gaming on your device and instantly get hooked. The gameplay is quite simple and only requires you to match or swap candy and treats to clear the board. Pairing 4 pieces creates a more powerful one while matching 5 or more pieces creates a wild card which effectively takes out all similar colored pieces on the game board. For each level, there are goals that you need to accomplish, for example getting 10 square-shaped cookies, 8 moon-shaped desserts, etc. The game offers you new levels each week, which should keep you engrossed.
The controls of the game are as simple as swiping, dragging or tapping depending on what works for you. This helps to free up crucial screen space.
The Cookie Jam Google Play app runs on Android 4.0 or higher, therefore this is an app is for all Android devices that came out in the recent past. The IPA runs on iOS 7.0 or later.
You can get Android and iOS versions of the app for free, but there are in-app purchases which will be useful when you want to make your way through the more difficult levels. These range from $0.99 to $99.99 and include coin packs which you can use to buy more lives and boosters. The score is 9.5/10.
To Replay or Not to Replay
While I like the graphics and ease of gameplay, there isn’t much to distinguish this game from other match-3 games such as Candy Crush, and the tools offered here aren’t much different. The developers should include exciting and creative storylines to increase replayability. Though the game provides different gaming levels, it still isn’t enough. The game doesn’t have new or compelling characters, and I’d be tempted to give a big thumbs down for this iOS and Android app if it wasn’t for the fact that it plays really well on both my devices. The score is 6/10.
Is It Good?
The graphics are simple and pleasant, and the controls are quite responsive. However, the lack of character variety and extended storylines may make this a bore to some experienced match-3 gamers. The game developers offer frequent updates that fixed all the bugs in the previous version of the game I had on my phone. The latest version of the iOS version is a bit glitchy and gets stuck at times. I’d recommend the game, but if you’ve played other match-3s like Candy Crush, this won’t be too exciting.
