Have you ever heard about Yatzy, a.k.a. Yahtzee? That’s a dice game which resembles poker to some extent. Yahtzee was even included in a game set called “LUCK – 15 Grand Dice Games”. Now, you can enjoy this classic board game on your phone with the Yatzy app.

Graphics

The game has good graphics. They’re bright and colorful, just like a board game should have.

By the way, there are a lot of similar games available on App Store as well as on Google Play, but with slightly different graphics and gameplay. And they all have similar names like Yatzy, Yahtzee or something like that, so only apps’ icons help you distinguish between different variants of this game.  The score of the graphics is 8/10.

What is it about?

If you have something to say about this app and make own review – write me.

As I mentioned earlier, Yatzy is a dice game which rules resemble that of poker. Since I wasn’t familiar with neither of them, I started with studying the Yatzy rules on app’s page on Google Play. The main goal of the game is to score points by rolling five dice and make certain combinations. I can’t tell that the rules are simple, and they will take some time to grasp. There are no instructions on the app itself, and that is a solid con. It would be so much more convenient if I could just revise the rules while playing.

With the Yatzy app, you can play with random players or with your Facebook friends. Since none of my friends has heard of the Yatzy game, I had no choice other than to play with strangers. I’m totally fine about that, yet I have a strong feeling that sometimes I played with the computer. For me, that’s okay as well since I just want to kill some time playing a funny board game. The only problem is, sometimes scoring can be seriously wrong. And I’m not the only one who faced miscalculations as other players mentioned them in their reviews, too.

Also, I’ve read the Yatzy app reviews where people complained that the computer had been cheating, so maybe only playing with actual friends is fair. I can’t tell for sure as I’m not so good at playing Yatzy yet.

There is also the offline mode available that lets you play as a guest, and it doesn’t even require the Internet connection. And using the online mode, you can make private tables to play with your friends and family. You can join a private table or invite somebody to join you.

The Yatzy app is free to get and to play, and you can find it on Google Play – just don’t be confused with many similar apps. As far as I can tell, everything about this particular app is free, yet there are, of course, commercials. I don’t mind them although when they block the score, it’s a little annoying.

The game is available not only on mobile phones but also on tablets so you can enjoy it any time you feel like playing a dice game. The score of the gameplay is 9 out of 10!

To replay or not to replay

Like any board game, you can replay Yatzy as many times as you want. One round doesn’t take long, so the number of rounds is limited only by your leisure time.

Personally, I’m not a big fan of games like poker or Yatzy, so I played it several times and moved on to another app. But if you like dice games with elaborate rules I guess for you, it would be interesting to replay Yatzy. The score of this point is 7/10.

Is it good?

So, Yatzy is an interesting and fun dice game to play with family, friends, strangers, and even computer. It will probably take some time to learn the rules, and if you’re a poker fan, this would be much easier to do. Anyway, I believe Yatzy is worth a shot, especially if you’re fond of board games and want to play something new and original.
