Graphics

This Android app has very minimalist and simple 2D graphics which are uncluttered and give the user much space to navigate the card play. The background offers different colored Egyptian themes with the Pyramid centered on the screen. You can customize your own theme from the options provided. At the bottom of the screen is the menu panel with various options that can be accessed with a tap. The graphics look better on a wider screen or a tablet. You can also turn on sound effects. The score of the graphics is 6/10.

What Is It About?

Pyramid Solitaire for Google Android requires you to remove pairs of cards that add up to the highest value (in this case Kings-13) from the pyramid of 28 cards. The pyramid is lined from one card face up at the bottom of the arrangement to 7 cards at the top. The remaining cards from the deck of 52 cards are piled face down to the left in what is called the ‘Stock.’ Cards are drawn from the stock one at a time and matched with exposed cards. If no match is made, the drawn card is discarded into the foundation.

Kings, with a rank of 13 move to the foundation immediately upon being drawn or touched. At the bottom of the main display window, you will access a panel with various tools such as settings, play, stats, hints, and rules. Controls are just as simple as tapping the card that you want to draw and then using a combination of drag or swipe. You can get hints to learn new moves and access rules if you are stuck. The simple controls are easy to learn and quite convenient. The app is free, and there are no in-app purchases, although the app contains ads. The latest version has an updated UI and even more card and background themes. The app requires Android 2.3 or higher, therefore this is an app for all Android devices. Unfortunately, there isn’t an iOS version. The score of the gameplay is 8.5/10.

To Replay or Not to Replay

Gaming on the app is simple, and there isn’t much to the ‘story-line’ so to speak. The app offers you two difficulty modes; Easy and Hard. Maybe the app developers should introduce rewards and a real storyline which would make the game even more enticing. I would probably try out another more exciting Pyramid Solitaire before replaying this version. The score is 2/10.

Is It Good?

The app is generally simple and easy to understand. The graphics are ambient although there isn’t any special quality to them. I like that the app offers hints and you can use this game as a helpful learning tool for Pyramid Solitaire. Unfortunately, only the Google Play app is available, so iOS users won’t be able to enjoy this game. The app keeps crashing and even the updates that I installed only slightly solved the issue. It’s a simple game, but I think there are better Pyramid solitaire apps.
